Skincare Dos and Don’t Post a Night Out
We’ve all been there. A big night out that’s left us feeling all too miserable the next morning, with a splitting headache and skin feeling just awfully dehydrated. So, we’ve listed some dos and don’ts that will help you keep your skin looking fresh and hydrated no matter what went down the previous night. Read on!
DO: Drink Some Water
If you’ve had a little too much to drink the previous night, it’s important to hydrate yourself right from when you wake up. Since alcohol is a diuretic, it forces all the water out of you, leaving you feeling dehydrated the following day. In addition to drinking plenty of water, you may also want to spritz a refreshing facial mist over your skin from time-to-time.
DO: Moisturize Your Face
While it’s great to rehydrate by getting your fill of liquids, it’s also a good idea to use a good moisturizer on your face. It’s best that you use a moisturizer that’s well-suited to your needs and skin type. If you live somewhere cold, make sure to moisturize every few hours.
DO: Get Your Beauty Sleep
Do yourself and favor and sleep in a little extra when you are feeling hungover. Getting enough sleep can do wonders for you after a hard night of partying.
DON’T: Use a Harsh Face Mask
Keep in mind that your skin isn’t in the best shape after a night out. So, given that it is in recovery mode, you should avoid using any harsh face masks or skincare products that may over-exfoliate your skin. Also, avoid trying on any unfamiliar products, since there is a good chance your skin may react to it. If you do want to use a face mask, it’s best to use a light and gentle mask that you’ve used before.
DON’T: Eat Sugary Foods
The last thing you need the morning after a night out drinking cocktails is more sugar, given that it can be extremely dehydrating. Instead, fill up with a healthy smoothie or a salad that can help you get enough nutrition.
